Back to work tomorrow. Why do weekends fly by at the speed of light anyway?
I had a good weekend. I had worked out six days in a row, so I took my much needed and much deserved day off on Saturday. I did as little as possible, and rested up for the week ahead. I ate on plan and just took it easy.
Today, it was back to the workout grind. I went for a 10km bike ride around lunch time and then after supper mixed up my Power 90 workout a little and did a supplement cardio workout called the Power 90 Fat Blaster workout, and enjoyed the change. My only complaint about Power 90 is the variety gets a little stale with just 2 workouts (well two each of cardio , and one resistance that are of escalating intensity). The change was just what I needed, as I hadn’t done this workout in a while and it challenged me a lot, and I left alot of my dna on the floor via the sweat pouring off of me.
I want to thank those that reached out and encouraged me on my progress thus far with the progress pics. I am happy with the progress i have made thus far and I am very happy with my efforts. I have been pushing myself everyday to make better decisions about what I eat and drink, and working hard to be more active any way I can besides the daily pushing play on my workouts. I take the stairs up to the fifth floor instead of the elevator, I walk on my breaks, I try and walk the dog everyday, and I just generally try and move as much as I can. I honestly and truly believe, that unlike all my 100’s of false starts, and my yoyoing past, this is the time that I will finish what I start.
The current exercise plan is to finish 90 days of Power 90. That brings me to Tuesday, Oct 8th. I leave for four days in vegas on the tenth, a Thursday returning midnight Monday. My Current plan is to start Power 90 master series on that Wednesday or Thursday so around the 16th, and do it minimally to my birthday Dec 31st, (about 74-75 days I think) and maybe continue on and do the full 90. Depending on which I chose, I will either be starting P90x Jan 2, or if I do the full 90 days of power 90 master series, I will start P90x in mid January. I will make that decision down the road.
My doctor has told me he wants me in the 160 to 170 lb range ideally. He has told me this more than once. I am 5 foot 9 , with a medium bone structure. I have not weighed sub 200 lbs since 1999. I maintained 165-175 for 5 years from 94 to 99, after 3 years of being 200-220 lbs in university. That is a long ways off. My hope is to get down around the 200 lbs level by NYE. I am not focusing on the scale completely though. I have no aspirations to look like a body builder. I simply want to be healthy. Almost my entire focus is on feeling great. Getting my cholesterol and bp under control, and getting out of the heart attack/diabetes/stroke etc risk zone I have been in the last couple years. Everything else is gravy.
Today is my last day of Phase 1 of the dash diet. I am happy how it went, and it was hard to not have any bread, starchy carbs, alcohol etc but I made it. I will introduce those foods back in slowly, and I am going back to tracking all my foods via apps on my phone. I do better when I track, and I think twice before I eat that cookie or extra helping of whatever that I don’t need. Tracking may not work for everyone but it works for me.
All I got for tonight, off to shower and unwind before bed. Gonna read some more on the next phase of the dash diet, and get ready for the week. Make it a great week everyone!
