Getting Back to Living

So I spent 4 days last week in bed 16-18 hours a day with migraines.  They finally cleared on Thursday evening and I then managed to actually have a good weekend.  I saw arguably my favorite band play live on Friday night, my ninth time seeing the Tragically Hip play.  I went with my best friend as well as 3 others I don`t get to see nearly enough.  Yesterday I saw my Niners mount a furious shortcut only to fall short in the superbowl.  I watched the game with 5 or 6 friends, and managed to win some money at poker.  Not a bad weekend.

I ate about 650 weight watcher points yesterday.  There was beer, rye, wings, bacon, rice, pulled pork, chips and some other assorted goodness.  It was delicious and I don`t regret a single bite.  But today is back to reality, or what I want 95 percent of my reality to be, healthy eating in proper portions and exercise.  Everyday.

I got up at 6 am on 4.5 hours sleep (don`t know why, i guess because i slept 3 times as much as I normally do in a week last week) and had some coffee and did some browsing on line about the SB.  I took a post super bowl weigh in , and its not pretty 235.6 lbs.  Yesterday morning I was 230.5, and last night at midnight at the official weigh in for a 5 person biggest loser contest with buddies that I am going to las Vegas with on Oct 10th , 2013 I weighed a massive (for me) 240lbs.

I did get quite a bit of activity in, with some light shoveling, a walk with the dog, and a dumbell resistance workout.  I hit all my major body parts, in circuit fashion and got a good workout.  I love my Power block dumbbells and I can switch between resistance quickly from 5-50 lbs.

I have had quite a few reminders of late, as if my own issues with my health are not enough, of just how much we can take our health for granted.  A friend of mine, who I have known for 30 years 8 year old daughter has some very serious health issues.  And just yesterday I found out a poker buddy and coworker who is a year or two younger than me was just found to have cancer.  Cliche as it may sound, none of us are guaranteed our time here on earth and its high time I stop talking about it, and do EVERYTHING i can to make sure I am as healthy as possible.

I had a migraine on Thursday after pushing too hard on a Nike Run – they’re awful – so sorry you get ‘em too.

I think you are doing all the right things and will be back on track, no problem this week! I had a week where I fell off the wagon a little too. Part way through the week, I noticed a gain of five pounds!! So fast! I managed to get three of them off again already though! I know we will both get things headed back in the right direction; we both want it badly enough!
