Feeling a little better

As the title says, today I was feeling better than I have the past few days.  I have been dealing with these migraines for 21 years.  At first they were 2 or 3 times a year.  The last couple years they were several times a month (excluding 2011 when mercifully I had 4 the whole year).  I have tracked what I have eaten, I have had MRI’s, cat scans, alergy tests, and everything I could think of or what was suggested to me to try and find a cause.  They are unfortunately part of my life at the moment, and I will continue to do my best to work around them, and rest when i must.

Today I went for a 9km walk with my dog and I did my P90x workout legs and back, along with abs.  This workout is VERY tough.  As they all are the first week.  I gave it my all, and am happy with my efforts.  Pullups continue to be very tough but I am using my pullup assist band and working away at them.  As I get stronger and lose weight, they will come easier.

I am watching Biggest Loser and its a good reminder that there could always be more challenges.  I do find some of it motivating, but some of the “made for tv” drama and crazy emotional stuff I tune out.  It does go to show, that people much larger than me are capable to work very hard so I have no excuses.  I am determined to make this the year that I put bad health, and the days of 30 percent plus bodyfat behind me.

Eats were ok today.  Not perfect, as I didn’t get anywhere close to the 45 points I should be eating.  I have to continue to work to hit my water targets, and work to get all my points in.    Long day as I didn’t sleep well last night so I am off to bed, work week starts soon.

  1. I recently went through a period of 5 months where I got a migraine twice a day everyday. It was unbearable like you said. I went into the ER a few times to get MRI’s and CAT Scans and they couldn’t find anything wrong either. I thought I was doomed to have them forever. The only thing that would tame them for a few hours was caffeine. Then I talked to my doctor about them and figured out the is was high blood pressure. The high blood pressure caused the migraines and the migraines caused the high blood pressure. Vicious cycle. Anyways, I’ve been on the high blood pressure meds for a few months now and my migraines have gone away. I still get the occasional one, but my doctor gave me a prescription for those as well. Maybe ask your doctor about having high blood pressure too if you haven’t already. The Blood pressure medicine is called Propranolol and the migraine medication is called Maxalt Mlt. Hoped this helped. :)

I’m coming to learn we can’t always eat perfectly healthy. We need to treat ourselves in order to not fall off the bandwagon and binge. I’ve done this before, and this time around I’m proud to say that while I’ve had a rough few weeks because of the holidays, it’s much easier for me to get back on track this time.
I think you’re doing great with the exercise workouts! I need to work on that.

  3. I, too, suffer from debilitating migraines. I’ve had them since I was in middle school. They’ve gotten really bad again for the past year. I just started on new insurance so I’m going to try and start at the beginning and see if I can’t get to a good place with them :(

Keep positive in spite of them, don’t let them beat you!!! Oh and Keep kicking butt at your workouts when you can get them in!!!!
